Two groups of young cyclists are biking across Canada this summer to raise money for the Lung Association. These dedicated riders are committed to helping the Lung Association fight lung disease and promote clean air.
The first group of cyclists left Vancouver B.C. on July 10th and plan to reach St. John's Newfoundland in August. The B.C.-based "Biking for Breath" team includes Alisha Mills, Christine Stables, Cameron Cunningham, Jennica Rawstron, and Klara Schwab, five motivated friends who met while studying at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. You can follow the cross-Canada adventures of the Biking for Breath Team on their blog and donate to their fundraising effort.
Another group of intrepid cyclists, this one from Ontario, is making a west-to-east journey across Canada to raise money for the Lung Association and raise awareness of the need for clean air. This Ontario-based team is made up of Dominic Senici, Kristen Boorse, Mike Ellis, Raluca Popescu, and Vanessa Wong. Their epic journey began on July 1st, when they dipped their bike tires in Horseshoe Bay, near Vancouver. You can track the progress of the five cyclists and one cat (really!) on the team's blog and donate to their cause.
Kudos and thanks to these dedicated fundraisers!
Are you up for a cycling challenge yourself? If you'd like to cycle to raise money for the Lung Association (without having to cross the country), consider joining a Bicycle Trek event. These 2-day events feature a manageable bike ride though scenic countryside, facilities for meals and an overnight camp-out, entertainment, and logistical support.
