Searching for new treatments for asthma

Research by Dr. Dean Befus at the University of Alberta could help find a new treatment for asthma. His research – partly funded by The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT – involves the study of asthma and allergic inflammation.

Through his work, Dr. Befus is focusing on finding new therapeutic treatments for asthma patients when their airways become inflamed by an asthma trigger, such as moulds, pollen and dust.

As director of the Alberta Asthma Centre, Dr. Befus also has broad interests in asthma – ranging from managing the illness to creating and evaluating asthma education programs for adults and children, along with their families and health care professionals.
