In early 2011, Dennis Woodford was told by doctors that he likely would not live to see the next year. Dennis was prepared for the worst, but was hopeful they would find a lung
donor. In April of 2011, Dennis received a call from his doctor that they had found him a pair of lungs. Dennis underwent a double lung transplant.
Dennis is a member of The Manitoba Lung Association’s Lung Transplant Support Group. The group meets once a month to lend to support for people who have either had a
lung transplant or are on the waiting list. Dennis credits the group for getting him through one of the most difficult times of his life.
Dennis and members of the lung transplant support group are working with others to advocate for presumed consent for organ donations in Manitoba.
