Ottawa -- The Canadian Lung Association is pleased to announce the election of Dean Karakasis as the Chair of the CLA Board of Directors at its annual general meeting on September 14th.
At both national and local levels, Mr. Karakasis has been a leader in developing marketing, partnership and communication programs for private sector and not-for-profit enterprises. Currently, Mr. Karakasis is the executive director of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Ottawa.
Mr. Karakasis has been a member of the CLA Board since 2010 and former chair of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Lung Association. As a long-serving volunteer, Mr. Karakasis has assisted in local fund-raising events in Ottawa, served as a spokesperson, and was a resource for marketing and media initiatives. In 1999, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for his dedicated service.
In addition, Mr. Karakasis has worked as a consultant for various organizations to develop strategic plans and appropriate governance models to meet their objectives. Mr. Karakasis and his family live in Ottawa where he is active in the Hellenic Community, serving as its President in 2011 and 2012.
