The Canadian Lung Association announces contribution from Sun Life to help Canadians live healthier lives

The Canadian Lung Association (CLA) is pleased to announce a generous contribution from Sun Life.

The contribution will allow CLA to expand and enhance its digital offerings to help Canadians better manage their lung disease from the comfort of home. Notably, the contribution will support the expansion of CLA’s online home education and exercise program, Breathe BETTER | Stay STRONG, with additional opportunities for community connections, online support and new education modules that include the role that poor air quality can play in lung health.

In May 2024, Sun Life  launched their Respiratory Care Program, delivered by Lumino Health™ Pharmacy [1], provided by Pillway [2], to support individuals in their management of lung health. CLA will also work collaboratively with Sun Life to develop digital resources for individuals living with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which will be offered through this platform.

“We are grateful to Sun Life for this very generous contribution,” says Sarah Butson, CLA’s CEO. “We know that Canadians living with lung disease need access to information and programs to help them breathe easier and live life to the fullest. Thanks to corporate partners like Sun Life, we’re able to grow and enhance our programs to ensure we are helping Canadians living with lung disease to live their best lives.”

“Our partnership with the Canadian Lung Association isn't just about support – it's about making a meaningful difference towards better health and well-being for thousands of Canadians living with asthma or COPD," said Alison Chick, Senior Vice-President, Health Solutions, Sun Life. "We firmly believe in working closely with partners to ensure Canadians have access to the solutions and resources they need, regardless of where they are on their health journey.”

Sun Life’s support of CLA dates to the 1920s, with a Sun Life-sponsored study tour that helped physicians in Canada and England share best practices in respiratory care.

“It’s particularly meaningful that this initiative came into fruition in our 125th anniversary year, given the history between the two organizations,” adds Butson. “I’m looking forward to the next year as we work to launch new resources and expanded programming.”
